Member Stresses

Member stresses is of limited use as it only examines the “direct stresses”.

It finds the maximum

M_x Major Axis Moment along the member

M_y Minor Axis Moment along the member

F   Axial Load along the member.

It ignores

V_x Shear

V_y Shear

T_z Torsion

Then using the Area, Z_x & Z_y properties of each member it returns the maximum & minimum stresses in the member f_max & f_min. 

The fact that M_x, M_y & F may not occur at the same time is ignored.

Filtering at the bottom is similar to the view & print Tabular output.

The Display Options panel allows you to select whether to display the Area, Z_x & Z_y or basic stresses f_a, f_x, f_y as shown in the 2 tables above. 

Note: these stresses take no account of Axial & Lateral Torsional buckling.
