Design Codes

The Steel Design Module will carry out the design of steel beams in accordance with BS 5950, BS EN 1993-1-1 (EC 3) or, depending upon the user license, SABS0162 or SANS10162-1:2005.

The Design Code is generally set up within the MasterFrame model, so that the loadcases can be generated in MasterFrame in accordance with the correct code. However, it is also possible to switch to a different code while in the Steel Design module itself. This will use the current frame analysis results and carry out the design to the appropriate design code. However, it is recommended that, when a change in the Design Code is required, that model is re-analysed in MasterFrame and the design results are reviewed after this re-analysis to ensure the design remains satisfactory.
