Terminology and Concepts

Within the MasterKey: Sections module, each design for any particular member is referred to a brief. Each brief is a particular set of design checks, particular to the selected design code, carried out on a specific member within the frame, based on the analysis results derived from the MasterFrame model. Therefore, each member to be designed must have a design brief assigned to it.

Design briefs can be assigned manually to each member by the user, by selecting the required brief type and then selecting the member. Once a brief is applied to a member, it can be copied to other members in the model, or the brief can be removed from a member and applied to another member in the model. Alternatively, design briefs can be created automatically by using the Steel Member Design Groups (Pro) feature within Masterframe. For details of the use of Steel Member Design Groups, please refer to the MasterFrame manual.
