Simple Connections

The following sections outline the simple connections module and the available connection with the module.

As simple connections, the joints designed are based only on the vertical shear force applied to the connection. In the case of stand-alone connections, then, there is no option to add multiple loadcases, since it is a straightforward task to identify the work case vertical shear force. There is also no automatic design available since there is no need to look at multiple design cases. This behaviour differs form the moment connections where the worst case design requires multiple design load cases to be reviewed to determine the most onerous connection design.

For the fin plate, flexible end plate and cleat connections there is an option to copy any of these connections to another type so as to see if the other type would suit. To copy a connection type's details to another type, click on the 'copy' button and select the new type you wish to copy the current details to. A new brief will be created using the current details.
