Moment Connections - Connection Types

The design of rigid moment resisting connections is carried out in accordance with the joint model and design methodology as given in the SCI Green Book publications. The range of connection types covered by the MasterKey: Moment Connections module are:

Beam to Column Flange (eaves)

Beam to Beam End-plate (apex)

Beam Splice

Column Splice

Hollow Section Splice (end plate)

Column to Beam (beam above or below the column)

Base plate

The connection types feature the following features which can be added as necessary by the user.

Eaves Connections

Left, right and double connection types

Extended end-plates

Haunches checked for stability of the cut

Beam and column web stiffeners can be added

Gusset and/or full width stiffeners can be included

Morris, diagonal, K and double plate stiffeners

Design of welds includes haunch welds

Bolts can be specified as 4 per row, with the extended end plate being able to be defined separately

Apex Connections

Left and right connections
