The Joints Property Grid
The joints property grid is located in the right hand pane of the main connection screen. The property grid comprises multiple areas related to the input of the connection setup and the contents of the property grid is unique to each connection type. Each section of the property grid contains inputs relating to a particular aspect of the set up of the currently selected joint, or to a particular member of the joint.
In a standalone connection, the property grid is used to input the section sizes, connection geometry and connection forces. For an integrated connection design, the connection geometry and forces are taken directly from the Masterframe model; these input can be changed manually, but each time the connection is accessed, the data from the Masterframe model is read in directly. Changes to the connection geometry or forces need to be made through Masterframe, or the connection will have to be unlinked.
In the property grid area, for a range of inputs, an input of zero means that the software will determine the required parameter from the default detailing rules.
The following sections outline the Property Grid layout and options for each of the three connection types, moment connections, simple connections and bracing connections.
