Snap Grid Spacing

The grid can be seen (grey lines) in the background of the model. The spacing of the grid in this example has been set to 0.25m but when the model is small on screen, the grey line spacing is 6.25m so as to avoid the grid being too cluttered. However, the points in the grid can still be picked off at the 0.25m set spacing.

As you zoom in the grid spacing decreases, so the density of the grey lines is 5-fold, ie, 6.25/5 = 1.25m. The points on the grid can still be picked off at the 0.25m set spacing.

As you zoom in further still, the grid spacing decreases further to 0.25m.

Note the coordinates at the bottom of the screen as you hover over a point. This allows you to zoom in to accurately position the start and end of members in space.

The origin of the snap grid can be selected or moved using the ‘Pick’ option.

Note that the Y coordinate of the grid is shown here as 3.5m, so any point picked on the grid will be at that particular level.
