Snap Settings Setup

A variety of rich snap points are provided in 3D space around points of existing structure and other points where structure intersects in 3D space. These snap points can be controlled using the snap settings. These options are found in the bottom right corner of the graphics screen.

The snap grid can be turned on or off from the settings screen or from the icon in the bottom right of the graphics screen.

The snap grid provides points on a plane defined at a regular grid spacing at any point in space. Note the coordinates of the point you are clicking on are displayed at the bottom of the screen. The example below shows the Y coordinate to be 3.5m.

The snap grid is shown on the XZ plane. The working plane is controlled in the settings using the Plane Settings for the XZ plane, XY plane or YZ plane.

A custom snap grid plane can be set at any angle using the settings below. The grid in-plane rotation (degrees) will allow the current plane to be rotated around the designated origin by a set angle.

The off-grid rotation about Y-axis (degrees) will allow the current plane to be rotated around the vertical Y-axis.

The off-grid angle between grid and vertical will allow the current plane to be rotated off vertical.

The set grid angle and plane (three points) allows you to pick 3 points which will define a plane in space.

Each of these options above can be used to create members which don’t necessarily lie on any of the orthogonal axes or grids.
