Tracking Lines and Points – second end of member

Having specified the first end of a new member, you can then track along and specify the other end of the new member at any intersection with any other member or at any point in space.

Tracking lines are automatically provided along the principal axes of X Y and Z.

X axis                                                            Z axis

Setting the floor plan to a 3D view we can see that members can be created in the vertical axis too.

Y axis

As we move towards the member on the other side, we can see that we have a blue dot representing an orthogonal snap point or a green dot representing a ‘perpendicular to’ snap point.

Likewise, if we come from the member above, we see that we have a ‘perpendicular from’ snap point and a ‘perpendicular to’ and an ‘orthogonal’ snap point.

Further intersection lines and points.

Another member is added to display a few further options. We can then add a further member in line with this new member. We can see that we have a green line showing a ‘project from’ line on the member and a green dot where we can project to in the same direction as the first member. We can also connect to the perpendicular point (light blue) and the orthogonal point (dark blue).

The ‘project from’ is available on the second end of any member, and in all circumstances where we see a dimension, we can simply overtype the dimension with a specified value.

The insertion of members can be quickly undone using the quick step by step undo/redo facilities on the top toolbar.
