Mesh setup

To improve the accuracy and resolution of the results in the FE wall design module, it may be necessary to review the FE mesh after an initial model analysis and modify the meshing parameters. In general, a better resolution of the results occurs with a reduced mesh size. However, a more dense mesh will tend to lead to increased peak values. In walls, peak result values are likely to occur at the end of walls, particularly when the slab directly supports slabs modelled as FE surfaces,  where walls directly support beams, and at the junction between walls. Applying loads to walls as point loads will create singularities and leading to concentrations of high values in the results. This is also likely to happen where the support conditions to the wall are modelled using discrete nodal supports.
