Coupler Beams
Coupler beams are intended for use in zones which act as a bridging element between vertical elements, ensuring the vertical elements of the wall act as a single structural system. Coupler beams experience axial compression (horizontal), major axis bending and vertical shearing forces.
The Coupler Beam area provides options for the creation of the required coupler beam zones within the walls, along with options to define and control the various design options.
On first entering the Coupler Beam area, the default layout is as shown below.

The left-hand pane displays the design calculations. The central pane displays the graphics view of the model. The normal display controls used in Masterframe work in this area, including pan, zoom and frame view filtering. The right-hand pane contains the controls for adding Piers zones, defining the wall design parameters and design method, carrying out the auto-design and viewing the design results for the selected wall pier.
