Snow Loading
Only two items of information are required by the program in order to calculate the various snow loads and load cases needed in analysis. Enter the basic snow load, Sb, for the site (from the snow map in BS 6399 Part 3) or zone number for the site from figure NA.1 (in the UK NA to EC 1-1-3) and the site altitude. Several load cases will be generated – a blanket UDL for the complete structure, UDLs on the leeward sides of the portal spans, and finally, drift load cases. If the structure is not globally symmetrical, then a total of five cases are developed, while only three are applicable to a symmetrical structure.
Click on the Draw Snow Load button
in the top toolbar to see a graphical representation of the snow load.
You can scroll through the load cases, L0 to L5, in the dropdown list to the right of the Draw Snow Load button
. Note that the snow load cases are only generated if the relevant data entry cells are filled.
