The beams serviceability deflections are calculated for the various load types and compared to the applied limits. The deflections take into account the additional deflection due to partial shear connection. The deflection limits can be altered on the Defaults tab for each load type. If the beam is still failing a deflection check, it is likely the beam stiffness needs to be increased by choosing a larger section size.
The natural frequency of the beam is calculated based on the full deflection of the dead and super imposed dead loads along with 10% of the live load deflection. If the natural frequency is failing then the deflections are too large and need to be reduced by increasing the section size stiffness. The default natural frequency limit of 4 Hertz can be altered on the Defaults tab if desired.
