Exporting Results to printer, PDF and Word
The Job and Project References can be filled in as shown below. Select this option from the Print menu at the top of the screen.
The reference information added will appear in the top right of the report pages when printed or exported to Word or PDF. Each of the 5 items can be added to or deleted from their droplists as desired using the + and scissors buttons. A list of saved entries can be accessed using the up/down arrows, thus simplifying the task of setting up the table prior to export/printing for each project.

From the Print menu at the top of the screen, you can print the current brief or print all the briefs at once.
Both have the same options below. On selecting to print the print box will appear giving you various options. You can select to print to the printer or PDF. A print preview is also available so you can check what you are about to print and alter the settings if necessary.
The job references entered earlier will appear in the box. The page number can be set to on or off and the relevant page number inserted. This should automatically fill the next page number each time the printer box is opened.

From the Printer list select the printer or PDF creator you wish to send the export to. PDF creators should have the PDF box ticked - see section below on printing to PDF.
Click on the Edit button to move to the Page Setup box. Paper size, source, orientation and margins can be altered here if required. Click on OK to return to the Printer box.

Back in the Printer box, you can set the number of copies to be made and opt to print any logo you may have set up in the MasterSeries Customisation area. This will appear in the top left of the pages next to your title block.
On the Settings tab you can opt to use the default MasterSeries margin settings.
You can print the date and a line border around the calcs. There is also an option for draft printing when the border and making text bold are omitted (saves some ink).

Finally, move back to the Print To tab and press the Printer button to begin the printing process.
Instead of using either the Print Current Brief or Print ALL options, you can employ the Print Manager to select which briefs to print from the full list.
Click on the + button to add them all, or the - button to remove them all or just tick the individual ones you want to print. In integrated design you can click on the frame members to select or deselect them.
You can also enter a unity ratio and the print manager will only select the briefs with a unity ratio over that value. This is useful in eliminating minor members that are well over-designed from the print list. You can decide whether to print the full output or a summary for these briefs.
When you click on the Print button, the printing will start, using the last settings on the Print box.

Exporting to PDF is similar to printing to the printer except that when you choose a PDF creator from the Printer list, you will see an additional box in which the file name can be entered and an option to save the file to the same folder as the current MasterSeries file is also available.

When you print to the PDF, the MasterSeries initially keeps the PDF document open so that more information can be added to it.
When you are finally ready to save the document, click on the down arrow circled below and select to Close PDF Session.
A this point the Printer box will appear as above giving you the opportunity to save it.

If you have the option to export to Word (Office Tools or PowerPad add-ons), then select the PowerPad menu at the top of the screen. You can export the current brief or all the briefs to a Word document in one go. This document can be saved or keep open and added to as necessary. Note that the MasterSeries is formatting the calcs in the Word document, so it can take a little time to export depending on the number of briefs and the length of each calc. The length of the calc will also depend on how many openings are in the beams. Try a sample export first to see what is involved in exporting a brief to Word.
