3D Viewing of the Frame

Wind Loading

Switch on the Draw Wind Area Loading button , found at the top right of the toolbar. The wind pressure diagram for the building is shown, giving the areas of different intensity.

Note that the wind must have been applied in the Wind Loading tab first.

Snow Loading

Switch on the Draw Snow Load button  to show the snow loads on the structure. For more detail see Snow Loading tab above.

Full 3D Structure

Clicking on the 3D button  will result in the frame members being displayed as 3D elements.

You can utilise some of the facilities of MasterCAD within the MasterPort Plus environment. The Draw Short button

applies the cropping function to the ends of the idealised members showing members slightly apart for visual purposes. Enabling the End-Plates button
will bring members together to form a cropped frame, adding endplates.

Note that when zooming the whole member must be enclosed within the zoom window for that member to be present in the enlarged detail. This restriction is not present when inside MasterCAD.

Adding Purlins

Click on the Draw Purlins button  on the top toolbar to show the purlins and cladding rails. These will be spaced at the centres entered in the steel design program (defaulting to 1.4 m for cladding rails and 1.8 m for purlins).

The section size and shape of purlins can be set in the 3D Bays tab.

The specific location of purlins and rails can be altered in the steel design program by selecting the column or rafter on which you wish to change the spacing.

Tip: Entering a value in the Portion 1 box only will set a general spacing of that value for all the spacing’s on that member.

General MasterFrame Viewing Facilities

All the usual facilities associated with MasterPort are available, for example, looking at the frame loading and load cases using the Frame Load Diagram, examining the different views of the structure from the view list, etc.
